About the Book
『The Tale of Simcheong』 is a traditional Korean folktale about filial piety and sacrifice. Simcheong, a devoted daughter, sells herself to sailors to obtain rice for a Buddhist offering, hoping to restore her blind father’s sight. She is thrown into the sea but is miraculously saved by the Dragon King and later becomes an empress. Eventually, her father regains his sight, symbolizing the rewards of true devotion and kindness.
